Cycle & Stars - Two day Granite Belt cycling tour
I can't make any of those dates but would love to do this tour. What can I do?
- The tour needs a minimum of 6 people to run so if you can get 5 friends together we can run the tour on any weekend you like.
I'm not in Brisbane. Are there other start locations?
- Please give us a call if you are interested in coming on the tour and we can discuss alternative pick up options.
Please forward any queries you may have about the tour either by email or give us a call 0405 604 926.
We are refining the Cycle & Stars overnight adventure and taking a well-earned break through winter for this tour. Tour dates will be available in the next few months along with some exciting new additions.
Day 1 - Saturday
You are transported from Brisbane Transit Centre by shuttle bus that will take you to the starting point of the ride. Your guides will be waiting to introduce themselves and set you up on your bikes.
Your Granite Belt adventure begins with a short guided bush walk in state forest exploring eerie caves, spectacular granite rock formations and impressive views from the lookout. After a refreshment it is now time to take to the bikes and ride out of the forest. Spot kangaroos and beautifully coloured parrots as you pass apple orchards as far as the eye can see.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon with your guide showing you the way to award winning local producers of wine, cheese, liqueurs and other crafty local artisans.
Cool beverages and snacks await you at your afternoon stop before enjoying a guided walk to a scenic lookout with impressive views over the township of Stanthorpe. The final ride of the day takes you to the campsite for the evening. Cabins with warm sleeping bags are ready for you on arrival at the campsite. Now you can relax, if you're brave take a swim in the dam, paddle in a canoe or stroll around the grounds searching for local wildlife.
Pre-dinner nibbles including local Granite Belt produce can be enjoyed with your favourite wine purchased earlier in the day. Following a traditional Australian BBQ dinner including damper, you may wish to toast marshmallows over the open campfire, gaze at the billions of stars or retire for some well-earned rest.
Day 2 – Sunday
After a leisurely continental breakfast it’s back on the bikes for a picturesque ride south towards Ballandean. Find the perfect gift for someone at the vintage shop or hand-crafted goats milk soaperie.
The last pedal of the weekend is to our lunch stop at a lovely Ballandean winery (of course). Here you will have an opportunity to sample local Granite Belt wines and purchase a bottle or three to take home with you.
After lunch our shuttle bus awaits to start the journey homeward but your adventure does not stop there. On the homeward journey you will visit some fantastic local artisans, see their creations and have an opportunity to purchase some exquisite pieces. Finally be intrigued by a special metal forging demonstration exclusive only to this tour.
Now it is time to relax, enjoy newly found friends and celebrate your achievement of completing a truly adventure packed weekend as our shuttle bus transports you back to Brisbane.
